Waffle House restaurants will offer candlelight dinner service on Valentine’s Day, giving couples an alternative to pricey reservations at upscale establishments.

The chain’s Valentine’s Day tradition transforms the 24-hour diners into romantic destinations complete with table service, candles and cloth tablecloths. Hash browns can still be ordered scattered, smothered and covered, but they’ll arrive alongside syrup and silverware in a decidedly different atmosphere than the usual fluorescent-lit counter service.

Participating locations are available with specific addresses provided, with restaurants primarily located across Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, and Georgia.

The Valentine’s dinner service represents an unusual departure for the Georgia-based chain, which built its reputation on round-the-clock service for late-night diners, shift workers and travelers. The restaurants normally operate with customers ordering at the counter and sitting at booths or bar stools.

For one night each February, select locations dim the lights, light candles and assign servers to provide table service. The regular menu remains available, meaning couples can share everything from the signature All-Star Special to pecan waffles in a more intimate setting.

The promotion has gained a cult following in recent years, particularly among couples looking for quirky alternatives to traditional Valentine’s Day dining. Social media posts often feature photos of the transformed restaurants, with their familiar yellow signs glowing outside while couples dine by candlelight inside.

Waffle House operates more than 1,900 locations across 25 states, with the heaviest concentration in the Southeast. The chain has maintained its reputation for staying open during natural disasters and severe weather, earning it recognition from the Federal Emergency Management Agency as an informal barometer for storm recovery.

The locations joining this year’s Valentine’s program continue the company’s tradition of selecting restaurants in markets where the promotion has proven popular with local customers.
