Dorchester County emergency crews located a missing woman safely Monday after a multi-agency search near Rosebrock Park off Beech Hill Road, according to the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff’s Office said first-responder partners mobilized quickly once the call came in, deploying water-rescue teams, drones, all-terrain vehicles, and K-9 units to assist in the search. Officials described the response as swift and credited the coordination between agencies for the outcome.

The Sheriff’s Office did not immediately release the woman’s name, age, or the circumstances that led to her going missing. The agency also did not specify how long she had been missing before crews located her, or where exactly within the park area she was found.

Rosebrock Park sits off Beech Hill Road in Dorchester County, a wooded recreational area that includes trail systems and water features. The terrain presents challenges for search teams, which likely explains the range of resources brought to bear. Drone surveillance can cover ground quickly and spot heat signatures in dense tree cover, while K-9 units track scent trails that aerial cameras cannot follow. Water-rescue teams suggest searchers considered the possibility she had entered or fallen near a body of water.

Multi-agency responses like Monday’s have become a standard framework for missing-persons calls in the Lowcountry, where jurisdictions have worked to build mutual-aid agreements that allow fast resource sharing. The Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office did not name which specific agencies participated in the search, describing them only as “numerous first-responder partners.”

The successful resolution of the search spares the family a longer ordeal and avoids what can quickly become a costlier, more complex operation when missing persons are not found within the first several hours. Law enforcement and search-and-rescue experts have long noted that the first hours after someone goes missing are the most critical, particularly for vulnerable individuals.

The Sheriff’s Office has not released additional details about the woman’s condition after she was found or whether she required medical attention on scene. A spokesperson could not be immediately reached for further comment Monday.

Dorchester County has seen its population grow significantly over the past decade as suburban development pushes outward from Charleston, bringing more residents into proximity with parks and natural areas. That growth puts additional pressure on public safety infrastructure, including the kind of search-and-rescue capability demonstrated Monday.

County officials and the Sheriff’s Office have not announced any public briefing or follow-up statement regarding the incident. The Sentinel will update this story as additional information becomes available.
